You do not need to change the shared server's clock to display dates in your local time. Set the time zone in the application or mail program that displays the date.
WordPress
Open Settings > General and select a city-based time zone, such as Chicago for North Texas. A named zone accounts for daylight saving changes; a fixed UTC offset does not.
PHP applications
Use the application's own setting first. For a custom PHP script, a named time zone can be set in code:

Email and calendars
Check your computer or mobile device's date and time settings and the preferences in your mail or webmail application. Email message timestamps, display time zones, and calendar settings are related but can be configured separately.
If a timestamp is wrong, send us an example and tell us where it appears. Include the expected time zone. Do not assume that the server runs on permanent Central Standard Time or add an old SetEnv TZ rule without checking whether it applies to your application.
